  2. Nuzlocke Blue Update #1!

Alright, my first update in this challenge:

I gave Professor Oak his “Custom pokeball”, and he gave me a Pokedex in return!  Upon leaving his lab, I stopped by Gary’s place, and got a town map.  Then of course I made my way to Viridian City, where I bought some pokeballs, and a few antidotes to prepare for the forest.  I went just West of the city, and in the little patch of grass I ran into a level 3 Nidoran(female), which I caught, and named Xena.  So right off the bat, I have a pokemon that I also had in my Heart Gold nuzlocke run :P

Then I went back to between Pallet and Viridian and ran into a level 2 Pidgey, which I of course caught, and named Xantar.

Before heading into the forest, I leveled all 3 of these pokemon up to level 9 in the grass just south of Viridian City.

Once everyone was at 9, I made my way into the forest.  I realized I had no chance of getting a Pikachu since I only had 1 chance at a pokemon, so I had to settle for the level 5 Caterpie I ran into.  On my way through the forest, I leveled everything up to 11.  Caterpie didn’t evolve until level 7, and the whole time it was a Metapod, it didn’t learn Harden.  So it evolved into Butterfree at level 10, only knowing Tackle and String Shot.  I left the forest, and arrived in Pewter City at last, ready to challenge my first gym!

That’s gonna be all for this update.  In real time, I’m actually about to enter Mt. Moon, but I want to stay a little ahead of my updates, so after this, the updates will be shorter, and hopefully better written/go into detail more on battles I fought.  If I’m lucky I’ll get ahead enough that I can just get a queue of updates going, so I don’t have to type them out every time I want to post one :P

  3. Nuzlocke Update

Okay, at long last here’s the latest Nuzlocke update.  This will be a longer one, kinda played all the way through the Team Rocket radio tower takeover, and the ice cave.  Let us begin!

So I got the call, and headed back to Goldenrod City to see what was happening at the Radio Tower, and of course, Team Rocket had shown up once again, taking it over to try to get Giovanni to come back to them.  First I had to go to the Underground Tunnel to get a Team Rocket costume, but once going to the Radio Tower, my dick rival Manhiem made me switch out of it.  Heading up into the tower I battled every Team Rocket member that was there, even though some were avoidable.  As usual, there really wasnt any challenge at all, just a bunch of weak pokemon in the 20’s the entire way.

    > I had to leave to heal multiple times, because as I found out in this Team Rocket encounter, lots of them had Koffings, and lots of them used Self-Destruct to almost kill members of my team.

    <

Upon reaching the top of the left hand path up the Tower, I found the Director!  Or so I thought, but it was actually Petrol in disguise.  So the battle began.  His team consisted of 5 Koffings, and 1 Wheezing.  Luckily for me, he didn’t use Self-Destruct at all, so I took them all down easy enough.  After the battle, he told me the director was underground, so I healed up at the Pokemon Center, and headed back to the Underground Tunnel.

I ran into a Kimono Girl yet again, who rambled about some stuff, then went on her way.  Upon entering, I had to battle Manhiem!

His first pokemon was a level 30 Golbat, which I took down with Adad with a few Thunder Punches.  Next he decided to use his Feraligatr(level 32, so I kept Adad in and one Thunder Punch finished it off quickly.  Next up was Sneasel(level 32), which I took out with Anshar with Confusion/Fly.  Next up, Magnemite(level 28) whcih went down with 2 Flame Wheels from Agni.  Lastly, was a level 30 Haunter.  So when he threw this one out, he pulled a Heath Ledger, and asked me “Why so serious?!” I had to make a note of this, because it was funny to me when it happened :P  Anyway, Haunter I took out with more Confusion from Anshar, and the battle was won!

So I made my way through their little underground area, beating all the weak Team Rocket members along the way, and got the Card Key from the Director.  So I left, healed up my team, and headed back to the radio tower.  The right side behind the Card Key door had a few weak people, and the “Boss” of Team Rocket, who all fell easily, and they were beaten!  For my heroic task, the Director gave me a Rainbow Wing, and sent me on my way.

So I flew back to Mahogany Town, switched out Abmul for Clonk(who I taught strength), and headed east.  I battled all the weak trainers on the path, and surfed to the tiny patch of grass to see what I could catch.  For this area, I got…..a Weepinbell, which I named Awalto!  With that done, I headed into the Ice cave thing.  My first battle in here was a Zubat, so I didn’t bother to catch it.  I made my way through, battling weak little pokemon, and eventually made it to Blackthorne City.  Upon arriving, I got rid of Clonk again for Abmul.

Decided to go ahead and get my catch for the area south of the city out of the way, so I went into some grass, and battled….a level 20 Phanphy!  So I captured this, and named in Amphan!

So currently, I’m just slowly leveling up my team, trying to get everyone up around level 40 before I attempt this pain in the ass Dragon Gym.  So once I finally am all leveled up and going to battle the gym, I’ll update once again.  I’ll end this with a photo of my team, as well as the move list for them all:

    Anshar(Noctowl)-Level 36

  4. Nuzlocke Update

Okay, update time at last! I went up to Lake of Rage, and for my pokemon capture on the way up there, I captured a Girafarig, which I named Aftrig.  All the trainers on the way here were pushovers with my level 30 team, as were the wild pokemon, so I didn’t really have a great chance to level up my team more without spending a couple hours here, which I didn’t want to do.  So I swam into the Lake, and fought this Red Gyarados!  It was only level 30, so Adad took it down with a couple of Thunder Punches.  Left the Lake, and Lance told me someone’s manipulating the Magikarp in the Lake with a radio signal! Now I wonder who would do such a thing?!  Go back to the souvenir shop in Mahogany, and find out Team Rocket has a secret base there, oh no! First though, I flew to Violet City, and made my way to Mr.Pokemon’s house, to trade the Red Scale, for an EXP Share, which I gave to Abmul. Then back to Mahogany Town, where I healed up my pokemon, and went inside the Team Rocket base.

Now as always, Team Rocket is full of weaklings, so this whole entire base was just a time consumer, nothing in here gave any good xp.  Most of them had Pokemon between level 15-20, and the executives towards the end were between 20-25.  So all in all, got most of my team up to level 32, except for Gyarados, who got up to 34.  Killed the Electrodes to stop the evil machine, then I was done.  Lance gave me the HM05(Whirlpool) and I left the base.

    >

NOTE-For the Gym this time, since I beat it before typing out the update, there won’t be a turn-by-turn description.  Also, since Piloswine kept re-casting Hail the whole battle, I was constantly taking Hail damage with Abmul for the like 10 minutes he was alive.

    <

Next up was the Mahogany Gym.  All the pokemon trainers in here were easy also.  Used Adad for any water types they tried to use, and Agni took out any Swinub they had.

The leader was harder than expected, but wasn’t too bad.  First he used Seel, which Adad took out with Thunderpunch.  He put in his Piloswine, so I switched to Agni.  Unfortunately, Flame Wheel didn’t do as much to Piloswine as it did to all the Swinub I fought in the rest of the gym.  After a few of them to weaken it, I switched to Abmul, and then it became a battle of items.  I brought it down to almost dead with Dragon Rage, and he used a Hyper Potion on it.  I kept Abmul healed with Hyper Potions when Hail/Blizzard got my HP low enough to worry me, and got lucky enough to kill him before he had a chance to heal his Piloswine for a second time. Last up was his Dewgong, which I used Adad for.  One Thunder Punch took about half his hp, and Paralyzed it.  Next I Thundershocked it, bringing it to near death, which is when he used a Full Restore on it.  I Thundershocked it again to Paralyze/do about half it’s hp in damage, then finished it off next turn with another Thundershock.

For my victory, I received the Glacier badge, and the TM07(Hail).  Upon leaving the Gym, I got a phone call from Professor Elm, apparently something’s going on at the Radio Station in Goldenrod City….

  5. Watching some Pokemon while my girlfriend takes a nap! Ash needs to hurry up and get to Cinnabar Island already!

  7. Nuzlocke Update

I changed my mind about not updating until the Lake of Rage, I figure a couple short updates would be easier than having to type out one really long one.  So, here we go:

I surfed my was across the water on Route 42, fighting a few weak Goldeens along the way.  You may remember I used my capture in this area before fighting Morty to catch a Magikarp, so I don’t get anything new on this route.  Halfway through, I cut down the small tree, to go into the clearing to have yet another encounter with Suicune and Eusine.  Afterwards I got a few Apricorns from the 3 trees in the clearing, then continued Eastward.

Upon reaching land again, I battled a few trainers, all of them had weak pokemon (levels 15-18), no challenges here, Alyanto took them all down with ease, and rose to level 31 after the last one.  So now I’ve reached Mahogany Town.  On to the Lake of Rage next.  If the wild pokemon are strong enough, I’ll use the path up to the lake to gain some levels, and catch a new pokemon(hopefully a good one).

  8. Nuzlocke Update

Time to challenge Jasmine!  I decided not to level anymore, so all my pokemon are level 30, except for Anshar, who is at level 31.  The 2 magnemites were easy to take down, only used Adad for the both of them.  The first one paralyzed Adad, but didnt do any damage, keot trying to use supersonic after that, failing the whole time, while I Thunderpunched it to death.  The 2nd one hit me with a few Sonic Booms, and did manage to confuse Adad, but Adad’s a smarty, and didnt hit itself a single time, and Thunderpunched that one to death also.  Next was the dreaded Steelix.  I put in Agnib, and did a small amount of damage with double kicks, taking it down to about 50% before it finally hit me with an Iron tail, bringing her down to 15 health, so I switched her out for Anshar.  I then proceeded to put Steelix to sleep, and take Steelix down to about 15% health.  At that point, I decided to switch Anshar out for Abmul.  As soon as I switched he was hit with an Iron Tail, taking Abmul from 104hp, down to 85.  All Abmul had to do at this point was use a Dragon Rage, and Steelix went down!  I gladly accepted my hard earned Mineral Badge, and TM23(Iron Tail).

So with that out of the way, it’s time to head back to Ecruteak, and make my way to Mahogany Town!

The next update, I think will be once I get up to the Lake of Rage.

  9. Somehow

I always forget how much I love Final Fantasy X.  It’s just such an amazing game, all the way through.  Today I made my way through Operation Mi’hen.  Just now finished Djose Temple, and got Ixion.  Whenever I play it, I find I have to force myself to stop to get some sleep, otherwise, I’d play straight through the night.

On a different note: I applied to college today, and put in another job application at a restaurant nearby.  So hopefully soon I’ll get a job at one of the places I’ve applied, and then I can start school this summer.

Tomorrow I’ll be taking a break from Final Fantasy, so that I can get some work done in my Nuzlocke.  So be prepared for the update of my battle with Jasmine sometime in the next 2 days.

Yes I realize I said I would beat her before I took my 2 day break from it, but I really was tired of it, and didn’t want to grind out 5 more levels with all my pokemon, so it was delayed once again.  That’s the only downside to Nuzlocke so far, the constant level grinding.  It’s worth it though, I haven’t had any pokemon die on me since right before Ecruteak City, and I plan on keeping it that way for as long as I can.

  10. burnt out

On pokemon at the moment.  Out of dedication to this Nuzlocke Challenge, I’ll still face Jasmine tonight, but then I’m done, probably take a break for a day or two.  I need to finish up my game of FF9, I’m right at the end of disc 3, and stopped playing it altogether, so I need to finish it finally.  I’ve never beaten it(not out of laziness or anything, just in the past my rom/discs always screwed up) and I really want to finally do it, because I love that game.  I also have a game going in FFX that I’m gonna work on while I’m on my Pokemon break.  I just left Luca, and spent a good deal of time training people before I fight the Chocobo eating monster.

So I need to beat these games, so I don’t have so many going at the same time.  3 games that can each take tons of hours all going at the same time isn’t the best idea.
